Why these are considered a protective hairstyle? While wearing these, your hair will be braided 6+ weeks at a time. Braids are easily the most efficient style to protect your hair. Look at every Renaissance painting, all the woman have long, thick hair. You'll also notice often it is braided! You'll wake up feeling like a goddess and will cut your get-ready time in half because your hair is already done for the day. You'll keep your hair protected by not applying toxic products or using heat. No need for that because your hair is already flawless.

What can you NOT do with these? I haven't figured that out yet... You can swim with them, workout with them, ride motorcycles, let your baby pull on them without ripping out your PP baby hairs you've been working so hard to grow, camp with them (and look like a woodland fairy the entire time), skydive with them, wash them reuse them forever etc. etc. 

What colors will look best on me? Some quick tips:

All the color combos look amazing, so take the pressure off yourself and know that whatever you decide will look amazing.

  • Does Gold Jewelry look good on you? You're most likely warm toned. These colors as bases (a majority of the packs will look good on you): Caramel Blonde, Medium Blonde, Light Blonde, Dark Brown, Auburn,  Chocolate Brown, Syrup Brown, Warm Caramel Melt
  • Does Silver Jewelry look good on you? You're most likely cool toned. Use these colors as a base: Platinum Blonde, Sandy Blonde, Ash Brown, Sandy Blonde Melt, Almond Melt, Toffy, Silver Grey
  • If you wear both Gold and Silver, awesome! The world is your oyster as you're most likely a mix of both warm and cool toned just like Ellie :)
  • We've had brunettes wear blonde dreads, blondes wear brunette dreads, red heads wear platinum blondes, and platinum blondes wear reds.

Full Head: Order 9 - 12 packs (45 - 60 double ended dreads). It all depends on how much volume you want. (Ellie wears 12 packs when using only standards and dainties, and 9 packs when wearing vikings)
Partials: 3-7 packs (15-35 double ended dreads)

How do I install them? We'll send you an install video with your order of dreads, or you can find it: "Dallas and Ellie McGee" on Youtube. It's just a traditional 3 piece braid to install them. Ellie taught Dallas how to install them the day they got back from their honeymoon. Since then, he has installed her dreads many times on her and on hundreds of other women! Show your hairstylist the install video so they can learn, or bribe your sister to come over with pizza. You can also install these on yourself and you'll only improve on each install.

How long do they last? At the time of writing this, Ellie's first set is almost 10 years old and are in perfect condition even after wearing them a majority of the last 10 years. For Vikings / Braid Twists dreads you will need to brush out the ends to maintain the wispy ends, heat can be used on them! Straightener, curling iron etc.
